Neuroinformatics is a multidisciplinary subject dealing with the analysis and management of data gathered from the nervous system. The disciplines relevant to neuroinformatics include neuroscience, statistics, signal processing, computer science, and the physical sciences.
Current Focus:
Drug Delivery Platform: Our neuroinformatics research involves the actively screening of Neurotoxic Molecules and understanding their roles in potential Drug delivery platforms. Further in this direction, we are designing potential target molecule with the help of systems biology approach that can cross blood brain barrier and deliver chemical entities of therapeutic interest at preferred site of action.
Recently, we signed MOU with Jiwaji University, India (Department of Neuroscience) to work in the area of Neuroinformatics. We are planning to cross validate our dry lab findings in experiment model at Dept. of Neuroscience, Jiwaji University.
Data Mining: By application of statistical and BioIT tools to large volumes of neurobiological data, we are developing informatics infrastructure for large-scale data integration.
Future Focus Areas: Computational Neuroscience: Computational neuroscience is the construction of mathematical models of neural information processing. Because of their inherent complexity, neural circuits need theoretical models, which abstract away unnecessary detail and allow us to investigate the crucial aspects of the computation. Drug Discovery: Neuroinformatics has the potential to be a powerful instrument in the discovery of biological markers of neurological diseases, as well as in the development of new and more effective therapies. Special focus lies in Bipolar disorders and Alzheimer.
Image Processing and Data Mining: We will focus on the development of new techniques to support users in data mining, visualization, exploration and retrieval. A special focus lies on the application of learning algorithms and data-driven approaches.
